Blue Family Room Living Area

Many homeowners face challenges when figuring out how to make the most of their space, especially if they’ve never actually lived in it. If you’re moving, it’s a smart idea to use the time before the move to create a plan, so you don’t end up feeling stuck in limbo. However, making rushed purchases during this period can often lead to regret down the line. Let’s see what this person has to say:

They have gone for a navy theme here, and with the couch being the only thing they’ve purchased I can work with that.

My first impressions is that there is not enough variation in color. The navy on the fireplace is the same as the curtains which is the same as the chair. The walnut table is the same as the counter stool, which is the same as the couch.

The accent chair, I know they want dark for their dog shedding, but an accent chair is called an accent chair since it is supposed to introduce and accent a color that is not appearing anywhere else. So a navy accent chair amungst all the other navy… falls flat. Instead, Id go for a cream, white, khaki, or even yellow. Everything is currently pretty dark so id want the accent chair to be lighter in tone.

Lastly, the paint. I like the idea of dark curtains, especially since they addressed it specifically. However, what I’m not liking… is the walls looking so plain. The navy looks jarring against that builder-grade paint and id want to select a wall color that makes the curtains blend.

With the introduction of a medium blue under toned grey wall color, not only does it add color variation, but it compliments every piece in the room, and helps the curtains blend.

The accent chair is leather (dog fur will wipe right off), lighter in color, and with the open legs, contrasts and adds variety next to couch.

The curtains not only are blue, but they also add a plaid pattern that adds interest to the room, plus… patterns conceal pet fur better than solid colors.
